engineers: record the stuff being recorded
producers: tell the above HOW to record the stuff being
recorded
KNOW YOUR BUDGET
Remember that you need money for duplication,
money for printing, money for promotion, etc. In my
experience, a 4 piece band recording a 3 minute song can take
from 8-20 hours (from tracking to mastering).
KNOW YOUR SONGS
You wrote 'em. 'Nuff said.
KNOW THAT I'VE NEVER HEARD YOU BEFORE
Send me a tape or CD of the songs you
wish to record. It doesn't have to be good. That's why you're
recording a CD in the first place.
KNOW WHERE YOUR STUFF IS
Don't forget extra strings, tuners,
lyrics, drum heads, drum sticks, batteries, and (most
importantly) YOUR WALLET.
